What a year for the property market! We have never seen the property market as hectic and competitive as it has been for the last 18 months. Normally December is a quiet month with the majority of buyers shifting their focus to Christmas celebrations, however this year there is still a high percentage of buyers actively searching for properties, and often willing to wait for the owners of their dream house to find, due to the lower amount of available properties.
So how do we see the property market in 2022? Rightmove predicts that the national asking price of a home- £342,401- will rise by 5% next year, meaning an increase of about £17,000. This is likely to be caused by the imbalance between availability of homes and buyers searching. However, we do predict we will see an increase in property availability in the new year as valuation
requests across the country have increased by at least 19% compared to the same period last year. Along with good mortgage availability this is positive news for buyers seeking their next home in the new year.
