I was entertained this morning to read this news article https://uk.news.yahoo.com/indonesia-house-sale-comes-free-wife-153455339.html#qh3D2ca.
An estate agent in Indonesia has advertised a house with an unusual sweetener thrown in for free – the hand of the owner in marriage. The internet advert for the single storey two bedroom property, says that it comes with a “rare offer” – “when you buy the house you can ask the owner to marry you.” The owner Wina Li, a 40-year-old widow and beauty salon owner is pictured leaning against a car in front of the house. The house, which also boasts a spacious back garden and garage, is situated in Yogyakarta, in Java island, and is on the market for IDR999 million (£50,000). “Buy at the asking price and take the owner as your wife (terms and conditions apply)” runs the tagline. The advert has gone viral on social media in Indonesia, with thousands sharing the advert. Wina has told local media that she was happy to go along with the offer as she was “looking for a husband anyway.”
She said she only originally intended the estate agent to tell friends that she was looking for a buyer, and also a husband, but didn’t expect him to advertise the fact.”I told a friend of mine who also works as property agent that if there is a buyer who is a single man or a widower who wants to buy a house, and at the same time look for a wife, he can let me know as I’m also a widow,” she said. Estate agent Dian Purna Dirgantara told Time that if someone just wanted to buy the house, they were under no obligation to marry Wina. “Since yesterday morning there are continuous calls, I don’t count how many, there must be dozens or even hundreds,” he said.
Whilst we wish Wina the best of luck in selling her property and finding a husband, Osprey would not recommend this course of action to any of our landlords, no matter how drastic the situation!
